The Our People Integration and Migration Foundation (MISA) launched a project competition aimed at Estonian cultural associations abroad for the first time in order to support the preservation of the Estonian language and culture in Estonian communities abroad and encourage Estonians abroad to participate in cultural events held in Estonia. Projects can be submitted until 28 January 2016.

“Participation in the competition provides Estonians abroad with an opportunity for engaging in the Estonian culture in the home country, tighten contacts and information exchange with creative people living in Estonia and be more involved in important cultural events held in Estonia,” explained Anne-Ly Reimaa, the Deputy Secretary-General with the Ministry of Culture.

Applications for support can be submitted by non-profit organisations, foundations and sole proprietors. The total budget for the competition is 40,000 euros. The minimum amount of support per project is 400 euros and the maximum amount is 8,000 euros. The deadline for submission of applications is 16:00 (EET) on 28 January 2016.

Further information about the project competition of Estonian cultural associations abroad can be found on the MISA website HERE.
The project competition helps carry out the aims of the “Compatriots Programme 2014-2020” national development plan, which include supporting the preservation and development of Estonian patriotism outside Estonia. The programme is financed by the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture.
